Ok, motorheads. This
guy is making a jet powered hybrid Hummer with 600 HP and gets 60 MPG on
french fry grease. He says he spools the jet engine up to 60,000 RPM
and it charges up these "supercapacitor batteries" that then power
the electric motors that power the vehicle. He's converting a Cadillac
for Neil Young that will get 100 MPG.
So our question is - with
efficiency like this, wouldn't it make sense to use these jet engines to
generate electricity for our homes? Clear up that incredibly loud
noise created by the jet engine, and this looks like a viable solution.

Continuing on with car news, GM is
said to be in negotiations with Chrysler for a merger. The Left Coast
Political Editor says it will never happen. Meanwhile, back in
Germany, Volkswagen is selling a new mini-van. It's called a Routan.
Why? This makes no sense. First, they don't have a great quality
reputation these days. Next, people want to buy small cars and sedans
now - not big cars. Finally, if they wanted make any kind of a small
van type vehicle, a remake of the Microbus would sell like... VW
Microbuses. On top of all that.. we want diesels.

HRH
Pelosi is planning on calling Congress back into session after the election
so they can pass laws calling for more unemployment benefits, food stamps,
and maybe even a tax rebate. Look for us to get a bill for another
$150B. Somehow, they're going to blame this spending on George Bush.

The natives got restless at a
McCain rally over the weekend. People calling Obama an Arab, saying
they were scared of him. McCain finally told them that Obama was a
decent man and that McCain was there only because he can do a lot better job
at being President than Obama.

Question 2 on the upcoming ballot
in Maryland - should we have slot machines. The current governor, when
he was Mayor of Baltimore, called slots immoral. (When the governor at
that time was a Republican.) Now, however, the governor is pushing
slots like there's no tomorrow. The pro slots organization in the
state, funded generously by the horse racing people, who are going to clean
up big time with slots parlors, and are running oodles of TV ads. The
ads are promising $700M in tax increases if slots don't pass. It's no
secret that we'll get the $700M tax increase whether slots pass or
not. You heard it here first. We're voting against it. Not
that it makes any difference.
